PERU, 2012

A lake that kisses the clouds...

Lake Titicaca - 8372 km2 - 194 km long, with a width of 80 km.

Kiss the clouds, as its waters are 3821 meters above sea level.

The Uros Islands are a few dozen. They are floating islands, created hundreds of years ago to defend themselves from the hostile peoples on the shores. Culture and habits remain as a way to preserve their ancestral identity. They live off fishing, weaving and tourism. The construction of the islands is made by cutting reeds that, with the roots, form a compact plate about 1 meter thick (represented in the 1st photo), with the area that you want to build the island,

Aquille Island one of several islands, this one with the particularity of not having any means of transport. The entire journey, from the boat that supplies them to the highest village on the island, is made by men or women, climbing 545 steps.

Returning to Puno after a day at the Uros and Taquile, we were caught by music, reminding us of a carnival. Our cameras protested, so we were involved in this "carnival". What a carnival!

We are before the celebrations of the "Virgem de la Candelaria". The mixture of beliefs, habits and celebrations coexist in harmony for several days.
